Video 1990-1994
A trip through New Orleans' "Rocket Factory," the NASA Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF), on Space Day (November 2), 1991. MAF is where the Saturn V Moon rockets of the
Apollo Program were built in the 60's. From 1973-2011, it's where the Space Shuttle's External Tanks were built (138 of them). On Space Day in 1991, it was open to
the public so everyday people could take a look around inside the 43-acre manufacturing building and the towering Vertical Assembly Building (VAB) in New Orleans East.
